(8 of 9) Sensei Ishikawa believes Tomoe is somewhere in the northern reaches of Kamiagata. When I'm there, I should help his hunt for Tomoe.

Quest stages of Friends in Passing
1. Find Ishikawa at Jogaku Temple
Ishikawa will be waiting for you at the main gate of the temple.
Sensei Ishikawa believes Tomoe is somewhere in the northern reaches of Kamiagata. When I'm there, I should help his hunt for Tomoe.
2. Join Ishikawa's hunt for Tomoe in eastern Jogaku / Investigate the wrecked Mongol convoy
Go to the place marked on the map and you will find there a destroyed Mongol convoy. Investigate the burned wagon, the corpse of the Mongol, and the arrows stuck in the trunk of a nearby tree.
When you do this, a young woman will suddenly appear, who will introduce herself as Matsu and inform you that Ishikawa is staying at her house. She will offer to take you there, but first she wants to check the snares she has set to catch something to eat.
Sensei Ishikawa is planning to shelter at a peasant's house nearby. I'll stay with her so I can speak with the sensei about the hunt for Tomoe.
3. Accompany Matsu while she checks her traps / Speak with Matsu
Go with Matsu to the place where she set the first trap. On the way Matsu will be asking you what it is like to be a Ghost. The first trap will be empty, so you will go to check the next one.
4. Accompany Matsu while she checks her traps / Approach the thieves
On the way to the next trap you will continue the conversation about being a Ghost, etc. Near the second trap you will notice thieves stealing its contents. Approach them and talk to them. They will tell you that they are stealing because they are hungry. You will let them keep what they have found, they will leave, and you and Matsu will go to check the last of the traps.
5. Accompany Matsu while she checks her traps / Speak with Matsu
The third of the traps is located on the seashore. It will not be empty so you will be able to prepare a meal.
Before you set off on your way back to Matsu's house, she will tell you a little bit about her wishes for the future.
6. Return with Matsu to her home / Defeat the Mongols
Get on the horse and ride with Matsu to her house. When you are close, you will come across a group of Mongols. Get rid of them.
7. Return with Matsu to her home
When you kill them all, get on your horse and follow Matsu and after a while you will reach her home.
You will sit by the fire and start talking. At some point you will address Matsu with her real name - Tomoe, letting her know that you know who she really is. Then Tomoe will tell you that the Mongols turned against her. She will also tell you that the Mongols she has trained are planning to attack one of the towns and will suggest that you get rid of them together. After what you hear, you will decide to return to Ishikawa to tell him what you found out.
8. Find Ishikawa at Jogaku Temple / Speak with Ishikawa
Go back to Jogaku Temple and talk to Ishikawa. You will both be very suspicious of Tomoe but eventually you will decide to accept her proposal. This will end this tale.
One of the rewards you will receive will be a new look of the half-bow - Hidden Serpent.
After completing Friends in Passing you will get or will be able to get Laid to Rest.
