Al-Tabari: Tafsir of al-Tabari

Al-Tabari knows the Quran as well as one could hope. He must have dedicated every moment of his waking life to the words of the Prophet. The word of God is one, but men interpret it many different ways. He has tried his best to record these discussions and debates so we can all get closer to the true Word of God. In the intellectual sphere, it is a truly courageous and daunting work.

Lost BookKalila wa-Dimna▶ show the map ◀

It is in the same room as the historical site Kalila and Dimna.

Kalila wa-Dimna

My friend would tell me these when we wandered the streets looking for morsels to steal. He told me he had made them up! Only later did I realise that some people can recite these tales almost as readily as the Quran. My favorite tale is the one with the carpenter and the monkey and to me it teaches an important lesson about patience and walking before you run.

Lost BookKitab al-Azif▶ show the map ◀

The book lies under a pile of stones. The red jar that you will use to destroy the stones can be found on top of the ruins.

This is the "secret" Lost Book, it's unmarked and doesn't count towards the region completion. Reward for handing over this book to the collector: Monstrous Talisman.

Kitab al-Azif

Kitab al-Azif

I do not believe in magic as Nehal does but I find it hard to fathom that this Al-Hazred created this in jest. I am attracted and repulsed by its incantations and dare not speak any of it aloud for fear that the nameless horrors described in its pages will leap out into this world. It is foolish, I know, but there is something about this book that I cannot explain.

Lost BookSuleiman al-Tajir: Accounts of China and India▶ show the map ◀

The book is located on the second floor of the building which is in a restricted area.

Suleiman al-Tajir: Accounts of China and India

Suleiman al-Tajir: Accounts of China and India

This book records the stories of Al-Tajir's travels to India and China. Master Fuladh has said there are Hidden Ones even there! I would enjoy the chance to travel to the Far East and see how they live and learn about their ways. Al-Tajir claims that, in India, there are men who carry beards of up to three cubits long!

Lost BookThe Banu Musa: Book of Ingenious Devices▶ show the map ◀

On the upper floor of the building. To get inside you must throw a throwing dagger through one of the windows at the lock on the window on the other side.

The Banu Musa: Book of Ingenious Devices

Our dear Banu Musa have so many ideas, they overflowed into this book! I am proud of them, and these devices are indeed ingenious. To think of a flute that plays on its own! There are many wonders here and I suspect some of them will soon be made a reality.
